Dear Students,

We are very pleased to inform you that you have been invited to the 2nd Youth
Innovation Competition on Global Governance (YICGG). The program is co-initiated by
United Nations Development Program and Fudan University (www.cgg.fudan.edu.cn)
and for the 2008 edition we will start up the partnership with two prestigious Italian
higher education Institutions of international relevance: Rome Tor Vergata University
(http://web.uniroma2.it/index.php?newlang=english), Faculty of Economics and CEIS -
Centre Economic and International Studies and the Politecnico of Turin
(http://international.polito.it/en/).
CEEUN-Transition Studies World Applied Research Network would cooperate for the
diffusion and participation of a selected number of students among the many partners in
Europe and worldwide (http://www.springer.at/transition_network).

The organizers will be Faculty, postgraduate and doctoral students from the three
universities and from other international Universities and Research Centers willing to
participate in the Competition, under the Coordination of the three main partners. All
the students selected will be granted free accommodation in Rome and Turin, the
certification of attendance and a number of credits issued by the universities following
their own criteria. At the same time, all the Faculty who will contribute as supervisors
and reviewers of the junior research activity starting by the end of May as e-
researching and later becoming an intensive and challenging final drafting in Rome
and Turin will be hosted with a special accommodation for the two weeks.

Youth Innovation Competition on Global Governance
2008 YICGG ¨C 2nd Edition

This year, the Competition will bring students from more than 30 countries to share
their innovation on global governance and will join this global platform together with
the Fudan University, Rome Tor Vergata University and Politecnico of Turin in Italy

Our Competition offers an excellent opportunity for postgraduate and doctoral students
to speak out their voice and new ideas, receive face-to face guidance from world top-
ranked scholars in global governance field, meet youth elites worldwide and build your
own social network. In addition, a visiting tour to Italy and why not to some part of
Europe and the most attractive historical places in the world will help you
experiencing the main dynamic, vital, integrated and open European common space
and its strong ties and partnership with Asia.

You may apply for the YICGG 2008 if you are a currently enrolled as Master student or have
started PhD studies.

COMPETETION CALENDAR:
April 22¡ªMay 15, 2008
You may choose a specific issue that you are interested in under the theme of ¡°Global
Governance¡±, work out a project and give an innovative solution.

The committee suggests but not limited to the following fields:

1) United Nations: the international governance looking for a new
¡°Glass Palace¡±
2) Next Generation 2020
3) Growth and Global Governance: new Theories, applied Models and
Policies
4) Alternative Energies: countdown beyond Oil
5) Climate Warming, Environment priorities, Water management and
international Choices
6) Innovation and new Technologies: the crucial contribution from
Aerospace and Car manufacturing
7) ICT and nanotechnologies further revolution
8) Regional approach and International Relations: does it matter?
9) Transition, a process far from ending
10) Higher Education, Human Capital and Lifelong Learning: Europe,
Asia and America challenge
11) Cultural heritage and Development
12) Wide Europe and Asia as major players in the future global growth

and topics of the Research Teams, under the supervision of Rome Tor Vergata University:

August 17 ¡ªAugust 23, 2008

Workshop of Rome Tor Vergata University, hosted at the residential facilities of Casa
dell¡¯Aviatore, in downtown Rome, in cooperation with the Italian Air Force, on the same
issues and themes of the Research Teams, in order to have a further opportunity to review
and update the final drafts to be presented the week later at Politecnico of Turin

August 24 ¡ªAugust 28, 2008

Presentation of the 8-10 researches, following the rules on YICGG 2008
that will be diffused by the end of May
Evaluate and award the ¡°The Most Innovative Team¡± (MIT)
Form a ¡°World Team¡± and develop solutions to a hot issue on global
governance in the year of 2008.
Evaluate and award ¡°The Most Valuable Project on Global Governance¡±
(MVP)
Prize the bet researches presented
Issuing an attendance Certificate to all the participants and a number of
Credits to be utilized in the curricula of each participant student

COSTS:
- The Italian Universities will cover local accommodation, catering including breakfast and
lunch and plus the cultural program during the final competition. All participants will be
responsible, through the universities of enrolment, for the airfare costs.
